Centre's Thompson Selected to Play in All-Star Game

DANVILLE, KY - Senior field hockey player Austin Thompson (Louisville) has been selected to represent Centre College at the North/South All Star game in Norfolk, Va. Thompson will be on the South squad and was named to the team by a vote of the coaches of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Thompson was a regional All-American in 1999 and led Centre to its best record in school history this year with a 12-5 mark. She ranks fifth in the conference in assists and has led the stingy Colonel defense to 9 shutout victories.

The game will be played November 18 on the campus of Old Dominion University at 4:30 p.m.

Thompson is a graduate of Louisville Collegiate and is the daughter of Stephen and Babs Thompson. She has participated in a study-abroad program in Greece. Her prior field hockey honors have included best offensive player, Sewanee Mountaintop Invitational and all-region.
