Jeremy Britt named player of the week in SCAC

RELEASED: Oct. 30, 2001

DANVILLE, KY—Sophomore running back Jeremy Britt (Danville) has been named the Offensive Player of the Week in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for his play in Centre's 34-31 overtime win over DePauw last Saturday. The 5'5" 200 pound Britt ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the Colonel win. Britt also caught six passes for 83 yards and totaled 253 all-purpose yards. Britt currently ranks second in the conference in rushing and averages 5.9 yards a carry. Head coach Andy Frye thinks Britt is a big reason for the Colonels' success in 2001. "Without Jeremy we wouldn't be 7-1 right now. His game against DePauw was one of the best I've seen in a long time. He made big play after big play and his total of second effort yards was amazing. They just couldn't tackle him."

Centre currently holds second place in the conference with two games to play. The Colonels will take on Division I rival Davidson College this Saturday in Danville and will finish the season the following week with a home game against Rose-Hulman.
