DANVILLE, KY—The Centre College Bowl academic team recently traveled to California State University in Los Angeles to compete in the National College Bowl 2001 tournament. Centre finished 5-10 and tied for 11th place in their first-ever national appearance. They went up against 14 other teams from around the nation.

Team members are Nate Kissel of Montgomery, Ala.; Ben Costley of Nicholasville; Henry McEuen of Carrollton; Bryan Rich and Matt Burgess, both of Louisville. Burgess finished high on the overall point scorers list.

They qualified for the national tournament after winning the regional competition at the University of Tennessee in February.

Centre has been involved with the College Bowl for four years. Centre's region includes Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. Centre staff member, Tom McKune is the team's advisor.
