DANVILLE, KY—Jackie Walisa (Stoutsville, Ohio) and Kyle Poland (Danville) have been named all-conference in cross-country in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The cross-country championships were held at Centre College where the Colonels placed third in both the men’s and women’s competitions. There are 10 teams in the conference.
Walisa ran the 5,000 meters in 20:18 to place 14th while Poland ran 8,000 meters in 27:31 and placed 11th. Coach Lisa Owens felt good about her runners' efforts.
"Both Kyle and Jackie are extremely deserving of this honor," she said. "With Kyle being a senior, it's a nice way to finish his career. Jackie has continued to improve all year and this is icing on the cake for her efforts. All of our runners are to be commended for their work in this year's championships. It's the first time we've beaten Sewanee in a long time, and to beat Trinity in both races was a real thrill. I'm sure our runners will make a good account of themselves in the Regionals."
