Centre College sets enrollment record for second straight year

DANVILLE, KY — Centre College opened its fall term with the highest enrollment in the school's history. Centre registered 1,071 students on the first full day of classes, Sept. 3, 2001. It breaks the enrollment record of 1,055 that was set at the beginning of last year.

Centre has enrolled more than 1,050 students three out of the past four academic years.

Centre's first-year class enters with impressive academic figures. Fifty-six percent are in the top 10 percent of their class, while the average G.P.A. is 3.73. Twenty-three states and territories and five foreign countries are represented by 300 freshmen and 14 transfers.

Of the 1,071 students, 55 percent are female, 45 percent male.
