Crowning of king and queen highlight homecoming
RELEASED: October 16, 2001
DANVILLE, KY Seniors Travis Kern of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Laura Beth Adams of Pleasureville, were crowned homecoming king and queen on Oct. 13 as part of the many activities that took place on campus.
In football action, the Colonels were big winners dominating the Maryville Fighting Scots in a 35-10 victory. The Colonels are ranked 24th in the NCAA Division III rankings with a record of 6-0.
On the soccer field, the men and women both played against Sewanee. The men lost 1-0 and the women won 2-0.
Also on Saturday, eight new members were inducted into the Centre Athletic Hall of Fame. The following former athletes were honored at the annual alumni luncheon: Chris Bastien (track), Jeff Bezold (football), James German (football and track), Anna Hayden (tennis, soccer and volleyball), John Horky (football and track), H.G. Reed (football), Art Schreiber (football and track), and William Lyle Thompson (football, basketball and baseball).
