DANVILLE, KY—The Centre College Music Program will present a jazz concert Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Combs Student Activities Center. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature the 17-piece Centre Jazz Ensemble. Highlights of the concert will include improvisations on compositions by Chick Corea, Rick Lawn, Thad Jones, Lennie Niehaus, and Jeff Tyzik.
Vince DiMartino, W. George Matton Professor of Music at Centre, comments, "This is the first time Centre has assembled a full-size big band. The students have been working hard to learn about the music and the use of improvisation."
