| Jean Kiernan named field hockey coach at Centre

DANVILLE, KYJean Kiernan has been named the head field hockey coach at Centre College. Kiernan will begin her second stint at Centre, having coached the first ever women's soccer team in 1991 and 1992. Most recently, Kiernan coached the Midway College soccer team and finished with a 10-5 record. She was named Coach of the Year in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2000. She has also coached softball and volleyball at the collegiate level as well as being an assistant trainer.
Kiernan will inherit a Centre team that finished at 12-5, breaking the school record for most wins in a season. The Lady Colonels will return 13 lettermen including leading scorer Beth Moses (Louisville).
Kiernan has a master's degree from the University of Kentucky and will receive her doctorate this summer in kinesiology and health. In addition to coaching field hockey, Kiernan will also teach classes in health and human performance and she will assist with the tennis program.
