Lady Colonels Softball team makes NCAA record books with stolen bases

RELEASED: Mar. 29, 2001

DANVILLE, KY-The Lady Colonels Softball team defeated the Asbury Lady Eagles 12-5 last week in a game in which the Lady Colonels successfully completed 18 of 18 stolen bases to tie for fifth all-time in NCAA Division III history.

Freshman Ashley Roberts, a Lexington Dunbar graduate, led the team with four stolen bases.

The Lady Colonels (3-15) hope to build on their accomplishment and salvage a season that has gotten off to a rough start.
First year head coach Wendie Austin states, "So far, our team has maintained a great attitude despite our rough beginning. If our team continues to play hard and with confidence, then there is no reason why we cannot continue to be successful."

The Lady Colonels will face Sewanee at home this weekend. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m., Sunday's game is at noon.
