DANVILLE, KY — George Ella Lyon, noted poet and author will speak at Centre College Weisiger Theatre at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17. The event is free and open to the public.
Lyon, a Kentucky native and Centre alumna, will do a poetry reading as part of the convocation series for the Governor’s Scholars program.
She has published two collections of poems, Mountain and Catalpa. Lyon’s poetry collection, Where I’m From, Where Poems come From was selected for the New York Public Library’s Best Books for Teens List. She has also published 19 picture books.
Lyon also earned degrees from the University of Arkansas and Indiana University.
