A look at one of Centre's outstanding seniors
RELEASED: December 20, 2001
Name: Laura Nahm
Hometown: Danville
Major: Government
Extracurricular activities: President and three-year member of Alpha Phi Omega, co-ed service fraternity; Habitat for Humanity; Angel Tree (gift-giving for needy children); babysitting.
How are you spending the holidays?: I'm spending Christmas with my family. Afterward I'm going to Cincinnati to spend New Year's with my fiancée and his family.
Most recent movie: Harry Potter
Future plans: Getting married to 2001 Centre graduate Chris Lewis. I will move to D.C. where he lives after graduation. I'm set to work in a prominent D.C. insurance and financial services agency. After a year off from school, I plan to attend graduate school to pursue a master's in government while still working at the agency.
How were your finals?: Surviving finals has grown easier for me in the past four years. I do it by working on any written assignment ahead of time. And I do it by keeping Mountain Dew and flash cards readily available while still trying to maintain a proper amount of sleep.
Quotable: "Having grown up in Danville I came to Centre assuming it would be no different than the rest of my experience growing up in this area. But I found that Centre is a world of its own. My favorite aspect of the 'Centre World' is that the professors get to know their students personally. They offer their home phone numbers for assistance after work-day hours. They invite their students over for dinner. And they help to encourage students to be open and expressive of their own ideas, no matter how much they differ from their own or other's ideas."
