RELEASED: Feb. 6, 2001 DANVILLE, KY The innovative Pilobolus dance company is coming to Centre College's Norton Center for the Arts on Tuesday February 27, 2001. The show will begin at 8 p.m. in Newlin Hall. Founded in a 1971 Dartmouth College Dance class, Pilobolus combines traditional dance movements with intense improvisation and a sense of creative play. Marked by a remarkably athletic grace and flexibility, the troupe is known for creating living sculptures that shatter any predictability about modern dance while also defying the law of gravity. Pilobolus is based in Washington Depot, Conn., and is a self-sustaining organization that choreographs, manages and publicizes its own programs. The most recent highlight of the distinguished career of Pilobolus was a 1997 Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in cultural programming. The Norton Center for the Arts is a regional performing arts center, which annually brings to Centre College a series of important musical groups, Broadway shows, individual performances and other works from the performing arts.
