Centre students present spring dance performance

RELEASED: May 9, 2001

DANVILLE, KY—Centre College students will present a dance performance entitled "Celebrating the Centre Community" on May 17 at 8 p.m. in Newlin Hall at the Norton Center for the Arts on the Centre campus.

Under the direction of Sarah Yarborough-Smith, professor of dance, eight students have designed and choreographed a diverse series of dances that celebrate different aspects of their Centre College experiences. The students have prepared dances that highlight education, friendship, theater, music, sports, travel, religion, and parties. A broad range of music will be featured from classical and spiritual to hip hop, and Centre student, Jayve Montgomery, will read an original poem as part of the program. The performance is the culmination of work completed for the modern dance course.

Eight student dancers will take part in the event: Maura Bates, Sally Boyce, Elizabeth Catron, Allyson Clarkson, David Flora, Mazie Kukachka, Carrie Lesli, and Dana Settles.
