Centre Women in Sweet Sixteen RELEASED: Mar. 4, 2001 DANVILLE, KY-The Centre College Lady Colonels (22-5) have advanced to the sweet sixteen of the NCAA Tournament after defeating Maryville College (22-5) 63 57. The Sectional Tournament will be held at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, this Friday and Saturday. The Lady Colonels will play Ohio Wesleyan in the opening round Friday night at 7:30 P.M. (EST). Baldwin-Wallace and Hardin Simmons will play the opener at 5:30. The finals will be Saturday at 7:00 P.M. Centre resorted to defense and rebounding to defeat the Lady Scots in Maryville last Saturday night. The Lady Colonels shot only 37% but held Maryville to 33% shooting and kept Maryville's leading scorer, Hayley Smith, to only eight points (3-12). The Lady Colonels also won the rebounding battle 49-38. Centre was led in scoring by Jennifer Patterson with 17 points and Jeanette Franken with 11. Patterson also pulled down 12 rebounds.
