DANVILLE, KY - The Centre College men's and women's basketball teams each got tournament wins during the recent holiday break. The men won the Centre Holiday Invitational Tournament on Dec. 29 and 30, topping Lynchburg College by a 91-58 margin in the first round and beating Maryville (Tenn.) College by a score of 86-75 in the championship game. Centre senior Brian Britt (pictured) was named tournament MVP. Rob King also made the all-tournament team. The Centre women, on the road during the break, won the Marvin Wood Memorial Tournament hosted by Earlham College. They topped Maryville (Mo.) College in the first round on Dec. 29 (78-51) and beat Earlham 71-58 the following day in the championship game. Two Centre players made the all-tournament team, Virginia Lowery and Sarah Green. The Centre men set school and conference records for three-point shooting in their first round victory. They connected on 19 of 39 to set records for three-pointers attempted and made. - end -
