| Centre professor becomes president of the International Trumpet Guild

DANVILLE, KY Vince DiMartino, Matton Professor of Music at Centre College, has begun a two-year term of office as president of the International Trumpet Guild. The ITG is an organization dedicated to promoting communication among trumpet players around the world and promoting the performance, teaching and the literature associated with trumpet. Professor DiMartino has been a member of the organization since 1975, its inaugural year. The ITG has a membership of over 7,000 persons throughout the world.
This is DiMartino's second term as president, having been president from 1987-1989. He has been a member of its Board of Directors two times and a frequent artist at conferences of the ITG throughout the United States and Europe. In 1982, he hosted The Conference of the International Trumpet Guild at the University of Kentucky.
One of America's leading trumpet performers and teachers, DiMartino originally joined Centre College in 1993 as Centre's first distinguished artist-in-residence. He was named to the Matton Professorship in 1996.
DiMartino has performed worldwide as a soloist and with artists such as Henry Mancini, Doc Severinsen, Pearl Bailey, Dizzy Gillespie and Dave Brubeck. Widely admired for classical and jazz playing, he has also in recent years begun to specialize in virtuoso cornet solos.
