Football team records 500th victory

RELEASED: Sept. 12, 2002

DANVILLE, KY—The Centre College football team recorded the 500th win in the program's history with a 38-15 victory over visiting Kenyon this past Saturday.
The Colonels, who have been playing football since 1880, got off on the right foot in beginning their 110th year of football.
The College plans to display a game ball in its trophy case to commemorate the 500th win. Centre's all-time record is 500-373-38.
The team is coming off one of its best seasons of all time. In 2001, the Colonels won nine of 10 games, the most since the famed 1921 team upset Harvard and went 10-1. Centre's 1955 squad was the team's last to go undefeated at 8-0.
Centre visits Austin Peay Sept. 14.
