| Centre graduates join admission staff
RELEASED: Aug. 8, 2002
McGraw and Meece, who both graduated from Centre this past spring, join the College as admission counselors. "Centre had a great impact on my life and was an incredible experience," said Meece, a Lexington native who earned a double-major in English and history. "I was interested in remaining at Centre and encouraging others to be a part of this wonderful environment." McGraw agreed. "I'm really excited about the opportunity to be back at Centre. I think I have a chance to make an impact on students' lives by advising them about the college process as well as the wonderful experience that one can have at Centre. I had an amazing Centre College experience and I see this as an opportunity to give back to the school. I hope to continue to grow both personally and professionally as part of the staff here at Centre." Meece and McGraw, a Lexington native who earned a double-major in government and religion, both graduated from Tates Creek High School. "As recent graduates of the College, they know Centre well, and each had broad leadership roles on campus and were successful students," said J. Carey Thompson, dean of admission and student financial planning. "We're confident that they will be excellent representatives of Centre and growing professionals in this field." In addition, Susan Johnston has been promoted to associate director of admission. Johnston joined the admission staff in 1992 and prior to that time taught at Centre on a visiting basis. She holds a bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University, and two master's degrees from the University of Virginia. "Susan has provided excellent service to the College and will be adding additional duties to her current duties," Thompson said.
