Senior profile: Alli Arp

A look at one of Centre’s seniors

RELEASED: Jan. 31, 2002

Name: Alli Arp

Hometown: Georgetown

Major: Elementary Education

Internship: Will be student teaching at Hogsett Elementary School in Danville beginning Feb. 6, the first day of spring term.

Extracurricular activities: L.I.F.T.; Sorority/Rho Chi; C.A.R.E. (volunteer organization: Centre Action Reaches Everyone); named Centre's Volunteer of the Month last fall.

What are you reading?: "I read John Grisham's "Skipping Christmas" during Christmas break."

Future plans: (Elementary school teacher) "I decided to teach when I worked at several vacation bible schools during my high school summers. My family has a history of teachers, including my grandmother who taught in a one-room schoolhouse at one time in her career. She had to walk more than five miles to get to school, so she would live with a family in town during the week and would go home for weekends. A story like that is very inspiring to me because she was so dedicated to what she loved. My father was also college professor at UNC-Chapel Hill and Clemson before we moved to Kentucky."

Quotable: "My Centre experience has prepared me for so many aspects of life. As a senior, I’m thankful for the opportunities and offerings the College has provided."
