| Brass Band Festival breaks attendance record
RELEASED: June 20, 2002
That broke the record from 2001 when between 42,500 and 46,500 people were in attendance. Good weather was again a contributor to the strong turnout. But festival founder and organizer George Foreman, director of Centre's Norton Center for the Arts, said the record showing also was a product of an outstanding lineup and the post-September 11th patriotic theme to this year's festival. The festival included 19 bands from throughout the world. The Great American Brass Band Festival began in 1990.
