RELEASED: Jan. 28, 2002
DANVILLE, KY-Centre College is having another strong year in student recruitment according to a report delivered to the Board of Trustees at its annual winter meeting held Thursday and Friday (Jan. 24-25) in Louisville. The trustees also approved a draft version of an operating budget for the next fiscal year and announced the names of professors chosen for sabbatical leaves.
The school is ahead of its record number of applications received last year, including out-of-state applications.
Twenty-three states and territories and five foreign countries were represented by 300 freshmen and 12 transfers in Centre's Class of 2005.
The Centre trustees approved eight faculty members for sabbatical leaves during the 2002-03 academic year. The professors and their academic programs are: William Crummett, physics; Stephanie Dew, biology; Mykol Hamilton, psychology; Bob Martin, economics; Larry Matheny, government; Tom McCollough, religion; Preston Miles, chemistry; and Phyllis Passariello, anthropology.
While the Centre board holds its fall and spring meetings on the Centre campus in Danville, it's a college tradition to hold the winter meeting in Louisville.
