College praised in new publication

RELEASED: Aug. 22, 2002

DANVILLE, KY-Centre College is touted for getting its name and unique stories out to the public in the recently released book Building a Brand That Matters by Dr. Robert A. Sevier.

The College is mentioned frequently in the publication, which includes a 10-page case study devoted exclusively to Centre.

The book explores Centre's promotion of its exceptional educational experience; the famed 1921 football victory against mighty Harvard (www.centre.edu/web/news/c6ho01.html); the College's connection to Abraham Lincoln (www.centre.edu/web/news/lincoln02.html); the story of Fred "Dead Fred" Vinson, the late chief justice of the United States (www.centre.edu/web/news/fredvinson.html); and the 2000 vice presidential debate held on campus (www.centre.edu/web/news/presdebate/debatereview.html).

"Lots of colleges and universities talk about delivering an exceptional educational experience," Sevier says. "We also know that fewer colleges actually do. Of the few that do, an even smaller number do as good a job getting the word out as Centre does."

Sevier is the senior president of Stamats Communications. With nearly 45 years of experience in the higher education marketplace, Stamats is one of America's most experienced research, planning, marketing and consulting companies.
