Back to the books: Launching the first CentreTerm
Students anticipate three exciting weeks in January
RELEASED: January 4, 2002
DANVILLE, KYWith the holiday season behind us, Centre College will get back to business Monday, Jan. 7. That will be the day the school begins CentreTerm, a new, innovative three-week winter session.
Centre's yearly calendar is based on a "4-1-4" pattern. Typically, one can take four courses each in the 13-week fall and spring terms and one course in the CentreTerm.
In the CentreTerm students can choose new, exciting courses; do research with professors; self-design a course; take part in an internship; or study abroad with one of Centre's short-term trips to places like the Bahamas, Fiji, Jamaica and England.
The new term also allows Centre faculty to create their own distinctive courses. This year, Centre offers 22 freshman seminars, as well as 40 courses for upperclassmen.
The new term replaces the six-week winter term and allows students to immerse themselves in one academic project.
CentreTerm ends Jan. 28 and the spring term begins Feb. 6.
To learn more about CentreTerm, call Centres Admission Office at (800) 423-6236 or e-mail the office at admission@centre.edu.
