| Clark selected to Young Playwrights Festival
RELEASED: May. 30, 2002
DANVILLE, KY-David Clark of Louisville has been accepted as one of the finalists for the Horizon Theatre Company's Fourth Annual Young Playwrights Festival in Atlanta. He was chosen for his play "In Retrospect" written this past March at the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC). The play was one of 13 finalists chosen from more than a hundred entries.
Even more impressive is that Clark, who graduated Sunday with a dramatic arts/English major, wrote the play in one night at the SETC 10-minute Play Festival.
"This is a sink or swim situation that I'm anxious to see if I can pull off," Clark said prior to the SETC festival. "It's chaos, one of the things that thrills me about theatre. Anything could come out of it."
What came out of it was being accepted to the Young Playwrights Festival from June 24-29. During the course of the week equity actors will present staged readings, and the playwrights will be expected to complete another short work for a staged reading on Saturday. In addition, the playwrights will attend talks, workshops and seminars on playwrighting.
