Fifner named All-Conference in golf

RELEASED: May 9, 2002

DANVILLE, KY-Centre sophomore golfer Curtis Fifner has been named first team all conference in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Fifner placed second at the conference tournament played in Madison, Miss.

Fifner, a native of Powell, Ohio, shot a 155 in the two-day event, placing second to Oglethorpe University's Chris Summers. Fifty golfers participated and the Colonels placed fifth out of 10 teams in the competition.

"The course was difficult because it was windy and the greens were hard and inconsistent," said Fifner, who is a government major and a French/international studies double-minor. "It was the first tournament all spring that I really played well in, and I felt I could've won it as I finished second by five shots."

Centre is a Division III school of the NCAA.
