Georgian State Dance Company coming to campus

RELEASED: Oct. 3, 2002

DANVILLE, KY—The Georgian State Dance Company will perform Monday, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m. in Newlin Hall of Centre College's Norton Center for the Arts.

Tickets are on sale at the Norton Center box office. Hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays. Patrons also may call (859) 236-4692 or toll-free at 1-877-HIT-SHOW.

The beauty and originality of the Georgian folk dances is in part due to their ability to reflect so many aspects of Georgian life. The dances are divided according to their origin and content into ritual and ceremonial, work, game and comic dances.

The Georgian State Dance Company toured North America in 1998 to great success.

The Norton Center for the Arts is a regional performing arts center, which annually brings to Centre a series of important musical groups, Broadway shows, individual performances and other works from the performing arts. A complete series schedule and subscription information are available upon request. You can also learn more by visiting http://www.centre.edu/web/nortoncenter/index.html.
