RELEASED: Sept. 26, 2002

DANVILLE, KY—Walter Gooch, vice president of administrative services at Centre College, is retiring after nearly seven years of service to the College.

Gooch joined Centre in 1995 as director of human resources and administration. He was promoted to vice president of administrative services in 1997. "Walter has been an energetic and resourceful leader during his time at Centre College," said John Roush, Centre president. "His expertise and accomplishments in many different areas earned him a great deal of respect throughout campus and in the community."

"The association with Centre over the past several years has been especially rewarding for me, and I appreciate the opportunity that I've been given to participate in some of the favorable changes that have occurred," Gooch said. "I'll always remember the people who work so hard to create an environment conducive to preparing young people to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities that life presents."

Before coming to Centre, Gooch was vice president of human resources and administrative services for Ashland Oil, Inc. He worked there from 1960 until 1993. He worked at a Lexington consulting firm prior to joining the College.
