Professor Anthony Haigh leads initiative at conference

RELEASED: May 23, 2002

DANVILLE, KY-Drama/theatre faculty members from The Associated Colleges of the South institutions met at the recent Southeastern Theatre Conference in Mobile, Ala., to share ideas about potential drama faculty exchanges. The meeting was led by Anthony Haigh, professor of dramatic arts at Centre, who served as the project coordinator.

Haigh is the Kentucky representative to the SETC, and sits on its executive board.

Participants identified multiple levels and venues for such exchanges, including virtual and on-campus options.

The potential exchanges will involve drama faculty directing or designing on each other's campuses while maintaining their teaching responsibilities on their home campuses by using high-level technology resources.

"The advantages of directing and designing in each other's spaces are obvious," he said. "What's new are the ways in which technology can allow us to teach, and team teach, in each other's classrooms."

Haigh will help lead a workshop on faculty exchanges June 5-9 at the ACS Technology Center at Southwestern University.
