Students publish journal on family behavior
RELEASED: January 4, 2002
DANVILLE, KYSociology students at Centre have released a journal of articles about family behavior they researched and wrote during the recently concluded fall semester.
"The Centre Family Journal" features articles such as "Do Cheaters Stay Cheaters: Patterns of Infidelity Amongst College and Married Couples," "Fatherlessness, Children, and Society: Why Kids Need Dads," "Married With Studies: The Effects of Graduate School on Marriage," and "Family Life at Its Best: The Simpsons vs. South Park."
These articles were an assignment from Professor Beau Westons Sociology of Family Life class this fall.
"The students were instructed to write an article worthy of being the cover story for Atlantic Monthly," Weston said.
There are 15 articles in the journal. They were presented orally in class. Centre staff members which included President John Roush and Susie Roush, Dean John Ward and English professor Maryanne Ward and othersvisited the class to discuss their marriages and family life.
Professor Weston is editor of the journal, and senior Adriana Melnyk is the editorial associate. Kathy Nelsen designed the cover.
The journal will be submitted for awards later this year.
For a copy of the journal, contact Professor Weston at (859) 238-8789 or weston@centre.edu.
