DANVILLE, KY—Centre College Director of Athletics and Recreation Brian Chafin announced this week that Matt Vonderbrink will assume the duties of coordinator of recreation and intramurals when school begins in the fall.
Vonderbrink, who is currently head men's and women's tennis coach and assistant men's basketball coach, will relinquish his duties with the basketball program after serving the college for the past four years in that position.
In his new role Vonderbrink, a 1980 graduate of Centre, will report to Jamey Gay, assistant athletics director for student services, and will be charged with the development of a new recreation program at the college.
"I'm extremely pleased that the college has allowed us to create the new position within our department," Chafin said. "We're looking to develop a quality recreation and intramural program for our student body to complement our highly competitive intercollegiate athletic program. Matt and Jamey will research programs at other fine institutions and look to develop and initiate our new program over the next school year. I'm also pleased that we have a person like Matt on our staff who is ideal for the challenge. I'm confident that we'll have a quality recreation and intramural program established by this time next year."
