Patterson named Player of the Week in SCAC

RELEASED: January 10, 2002

DANVILLE, KY—Centre College center Jennifer Patterson has been named Player of the Week in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for her play in last week's women’s basketball victories over Rhodes and Hendrix.

Patterson, of Louisville, averaged 26 points and 11 rebounds for the weekend, shooting an incredible 81.5 percent (22-27) from the floor. She was also eight of 12 from the free-throw line (67 percent). For the season, Patterson is sixth in the league in scoring (13.6 ppg) and leads the league in field-goal percentage at 65.3 percent. She is also sixth in the SCAC in free-throw percentage hitting 74.4 percent of her charity tosses.

Coach Jennifer Ruff likes what she sees.

"Jennifer missed some games early and is right now performing at a high level. She's in game shape and getting back in sync. She now seems comfortable with our offense and I really like her rebounding. She’s tough inside and we hope this continues."

Centre is currently in second place in the conference with a 4-1 record (7-5 overall) and will travel to Millsaps and Oglethorpe this weekend.
