| Holiday feast set at "Leipzig Coffeehouse"
RELEASED: Dec. 4, 2003
(6:30 p.m.) and Dec. 7 (5:30 p.m.) in Centre's Norton Center For the Arts Foyer. Set in 18th-century Germany, the evening's story (written by Danville writer Patsi Trollinger) centers on two neighboring Leipzig shops, one a coffeehouse and one a pastry shop, whose two owners have been estranged for years. An exotic Turk, some mimers, J.S. Bach, members of his family, and other guests present an evening of stories, food, fun and music. Centre Senior David Flora is directing the evening's drama. The event will feature numerous musical selections performed by the Centre Singers with Professor Barbara Hall directing. The group will perform pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, choruses from Handel's Messiah, traditional German carols and others. Instrumentalists from the music program will perform additional selections on flute, harpsichord and violin. Attendees will partake in a traditional German meal that includes hot cider, German potato salad, stuffed beef roll, red cabbage, and traditional German holiday cookies. Cast members include: Adam Brown, Leigh Spencer Brown, Elizabeth Cornell, Missy Crowley, Emery Denby, Kevin Duke, Meg Fenton, Jessica Graff, J. Graham, Stephen Ludlum, Leah Newton, Drew Settles, Josh Smith, Elizabeth Tammen and Nora Traum.
