| Centre honors alumnus at dinner
RELEASED: Feb. 1, 2003
DANVILLE, KYCentre College has honored James O. "Jim" Buck with the College's annual Associate of the Year award. Buck was given this honor at a black-tie dinner held in Louisville on Jan. 31 for Centre trustees and major donors, along with other friends of the College.
Buck, an alumnus, was chosen for the award because of his many contributions to Centre.
The College's fitness center and weight-lifting room, known as the Buck Power Center, in Sutcliffe Hall were made possible by the generosity of Buck. The quarterback of the Colonels football team, Buck graduated from Centre in 1942. Buck also participated in basketball, track and field, and golf. He's a member of the Centre College Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Alumni Association named him a Distinguished Alumnus in 1998. Buck is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He's a native of Jacksonville, Fla., where he's had a distinguished career in the real estate business. Buck is a former president of the Florida Association of Realtors.
Centre announces the Associate of the Year each January.
