| CATS to open Norton Center season

The production will take place at 8 p.m. in Newlin Hall on Sept. 24. CATS opened in 1981 at the New London Theatre in the West End and in 1982 at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. In 1983, CATS, which is based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, won seven Tony Awards including best musical, best book of a musical, best lighting and best costumes.
