| Centre: A college that changes lives
RELEASED: Dec. 4, 2003
Schools were selected based on a proven ability to develop students' potential, values, initiative and risk-taking skills. Centre is the only Kentucky college included in the book. "Centre students are bright, wholesome, polite, friendly and personable, eager to do well and serious about what life holds for them," Pope says in the seven-page section about Centre. The 40 schools were selected Pope says because, "They outdo the Ivies and research universities in producing winners." Pope says that Centre seniors can be confident they'll get into the best graduate and professional schools and get jobs. "Very few colleges or universities can boast that during the recession of 1992, 96 percent of its graduates were either in graduate or professional school or had jobs within six months of graduation." Centre is the most affordable of the U.S. News and World Report top 50, and Pope agrees Centre is a top value. He calls the College, "a bargain, costing several thousand dollars less than quality colleges in the North." He then goes on to pay Centre's faculty a supreme compliment: "No university faculty compares with Centre's in the impact it has on the growth of young minds and personalities. Its faculty is earnestly committed to and excels at the art of teaching."
