Construction progresses on The College Centre

RELEASED: Aug. 14, 2003

DANVILLE, KY—When students return to campus in a few weeks, they'll notice some major changes.

The College Centre—a state-of-the-art academic/athletic complex—is well under construction. Heavy machinery and mounds of dirt have replaced the sidewalks in front of Sutcliffe Athletic Center and Crounse Academic Center.

There will be some alterations in routine and at times some mess and inconvenience. These changes, however, will be worth it when The College Centre is complete in the fall of 2005, bringing the latest technology, enhanced access to research material, great study areas and outstanding exercise and recreation facilities.

Two issues campus residents need to keep in mind on their return will be safety and parking. College community members must stay out of restricted construction areas. Some parking spaces will be lost, but the Public Safety Office is arranging to replace these spaces in other locations, for the most part, farther from the center of campus.

For more information, please feel free to ask library or athletic staff members, Public Safety personnel, or members of the Student Life Office.
