DANVILLE, KY—Centre College freshman Adair Howell will appear on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine after winning the Cosmo Cover Search contest yesterday.
Howell, a 6-foot-1 volleyball team member from Atlanta, will grace the October issue's cover after being selected from 6,000 entries. The issue hits newsstands on Sept. 16. Howell was the top vote-getter in an on-line poll conducted by Cosmopolitan.
"This is a dream come true," Howell said this morning on NBC's Today Show.
Her Centre teammates gathered at Nevin Hall on campus last evening to watch Howell on Entertainment Tonight.
"I was really excited for her. She's a really down-to-earth person," said freshman setter Kate Bennett of Louisville.
Shannon Stribos, a 6-foot-2 freshman middle hitter who is also an Atlanta native and rooms with Howell, agreed.
"She's the greatest girl," she said. "She's great to live with. She tries to find the best in every situation."
