Courier-Journal explores possible presidential debate at Centre

RELEASED: July 17, 2003

DANVILLE, KY—Centre College's chances to land a 2004 presidential debate were featured on the front page of the Louisville Courier-Journal this week.

Centre has been named by the Commission on Presidential Debates as one of the 14 sites under consideration to host a General Election debate in 2004. In 2000 Centre hosted the only debate between vice presidential candidates Dick Cheney and Joe Lieberman.

Centre administration, faculty, staff and students were interviewed in the article. Several Centre students recounted the excitement of the 2000 debate and how it helped shape their career aspirations.

The debate sites will be announced in November.
