Centre named college of distinction

RELEASED: Oct. 16, 2003

DANVILLE, KY—Centre has been selected to appear in a new admissions guidebook, Colleges of Distinction. Centre was the only college in Kentucky included as one of approximately 160 colleges nationwide.

Colleges of Distinction recognizes colleges based on four distinctions: 1) engaged students, recruiting and keeping students who want to be engaged; 2) great teaching, excellence in teaching undergraduates; 3) vibrant communities, residential campuses offering many opportunities for student development; and 4) successful outcomes, a consistent record of satisfied alumni who excel in their chosen fields.

Colleges of Distinction describes Centre as "a beautiful, active campus in the heart of Kentucky Bluegrass country. Centre College has perfected the art of getting students involved. With over 2,000 events a year and more than 100 campus organizations, students learn to be active community members."

In the guidebook, produced by Student Horizons, Inc., each school will have a four-page profile with fast facts about the college, a critique, and quotes. To check out Centre's profile, visit the Colleges of Distinction Web site http://www.collegesofdistinction.com/collegetemplates/default.asp?cid=112.
