RELEASED: June 5, 2003

DANVILLE, KY—Scott Duzan, a junior at Centre College, recently celebrated a milestone in his life that he won't soon forget.

Duzan, a biology major from Hardinsburg, Ky., turned 20 years of age on May 25. He did so while studying abroad in Japan.

On his birthday night he ate at a Chinese restaurant where he tried several new dishes, attended the Firefly Festival, and went with newly made friends to a karaoke bar where they surprised him with birthday cake and presents.

Duzan is doing an on-line travel journal this summer for the Centre College Web site. To see his journal entries and photos, go to http://www.centre.edu/web/admission/traveljournals/.

Centre has one of the nation's leading foreign-study programs. Seventy percent of Centre students study abroad during their four years at the college, the sixth-highest percentage in the country.
