| Kiplinger's magazine cites Centre as top college value in Kentucky Among top 50 with Harvard, Yale, Princeton and other leading national institutions
The magazine analyzed more than 1,300 private colleges from throughout the country to determine which best combine academic excellence with generous aid packages and lower total costs. Kiplinger's cited a "little-noticed" trend in financial aid in which most students at private colleges don't pay the full four-year tuition. Centre offers need-based financial aid and merit-based scholarships to a majority of its students. More than 80 percent of Centre students receive financial assistance, nearly 60 percent receive need-based financial aid and more than half receive merit-based scholarships. "We strive to offer an extraordinary education at costs low enough to insure that any deserving student can enroll," said Centre President John Roush. "We're able to do this thanks in large part to our incredibly generous alumni and friends. Their donations have established a very strong endowment for student scholarships." The College is a top-50 national liberal arts college as ranked by U.S. News and World Report. Centre is the most affordable of that group.
