DANVILLE, KY—Kacie Powell of Glasgow, Ky., has joined the Centre College Communications Office as a communications fellow.
In this position Powell will assist with news services, research and writing for publications, among other duties.
Powell has a B.A. in public relations from Western Kentucky University where she was named Outstanding Public Relations Senior this spring.
Her experience includes serving as a public relations assistant for Tennessee Titans Radio, the fourth-largest National Football League radio network. She was also an administrative assistant for Western Kentucky's famed photojournalism department. There she worked on the Mountain Workshops project, a hands-on learning experience in documentary-style photojournalism. Participants shoot picture stories about people of a selected Kentucky county and receive intensive critiques from nationally recognized professional visual journalists.
Powell served as a WKU Spirit Master, Student Alumni Association President and was a WKU Alumni Association Board Member.
Mike Norris, director of communications at Centre, said of Powell's appointment: "We're pleased to have a person of Kacie's ability and enthusiasm as a member of our staff. Her background will help us to let everyone know of all the wonderful opportunities at Centre."
Powell is the daughter of Steve and Rita Powell of Glasgow.
