Senior profile: Melinda Crecelius

A look at one of Centre's outstanding seniors

RELEASED: Jan. 30, 2003

Name: Melinda Crecelius

Hometown: Youngstown, Ohio

Major: dramatic arts

Study Abroad: Spring of 2002 in London

Extracurricular activities: Kappa Kappa Gamma, Centre Players

What are you reading outside the classroom? "I just finished The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. Now I'm reading Are You Somebody? by Nuala O'Faolian."

You are directing a student production this spring. How is this experience going? "Great. I'm quite nervous, but have complete confidence in my actors and expect a fabulous performance of The Vagina Monologues. It feels great to know I'm heading up such a powerful piece."

Future plans: "I'm not sure yet. I'd eventually like to get into radio as a producer or become a talent scout."

Quotable: "As many Centre students say, I've learned just as much outside the classroom as within. Although my time here has been filled with happiness and heartache, I'd do it all again in a heartbeat simply because I've learned so much. Through my most recent experiences, though, I'd have to say that my motto is 'The best futures are those that are unplanned!' "
