Centre offers alternative to plate problem

RELEASED: Jan. 16, 2003

DANVILLE, KY—There has been some controversy of late about Kentucky's new license plates. If you're one who doesn't like the newly designed automotive plates, Centre College can give you another option.

If you live in Kentucky, Centre license plates can now be ordered through your local County Clerk's office.

The Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities (AIKCU) sponsors the special plates.

"These plates represent a great opportunity for students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of our schools to show their support," said Gary Cox, president of AIKCU.

Cost: Collegiate plates cost an extra $10 annually (which goes to Centre's general scholarship fund), in addition to the regular registration fee of $15. There is also a one-time application fee of $25.

How to Apply: Application forms are available from any Kentucky county clerk's office. Completed forms must be returned to the county clerk's office. Please do not send application forms to Centre.

For more information contact AIKCU at (502) 695-5007 or on the Web at www.aikcu.org.
