New responsibilities, new face in Centre student life office

RELEASED: July 3, 2003

DANVILLE, KY—Irene Moss has accepted a new position as Centre College's director of student activities, and Patrick Noltemeyer '01 has joined the staff as director of Greek life.

In her new position, Moss' duties include working with various campus programs and organizations to develop a student activities calendar. She'll also work with the Student Government Association to develop programs. Moss was previously director of Greek life.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed the past three years in Greek life at Centre," Moss said. "But I look forward to exciting new work in student activities and the opportunity to interact with student leaders and organizations dedicated to excellence in campus programming."

Moss joined the college in 2000 as the assistant director of student life for Greek affairs. She was later promoted to director of Greek life. Before coming to Centre, Moss served as the director of student activities at Wesleyan College and as a graduate assistant to student government, residence life and the Greek system at Birmingham-Southern College. Moss holds a B.S. in English from Vanderbilt University and a M.A. in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

"When Renie expressed interest in switching back into student activities, in which she'd worked at another institution, we were thrilled," said Randy Hays, vice president and dean of student life at Centre. "Renie's familiarity with our students' interests and her fresh perspective will be a wonderful asset to our programming efforts this fall."
Noltemeyer will advise Centre's nine fraternities and sororities on improving scholarship, community service and enhancing the experience for individual members.

"I'm excited about coming back to Centre and working with the organizations that I was involved with as a student," Noltemeyer said. "I look forward to improving the Greek system, making it stronger and more active for all the students who participate."

Noltemeyer received his B.S. in psychology from Centre in 2001 and will complete an M.A. in student affairs from the University of Kentucky in August.

Noltemeyer's experience includes serving as a graduate assistant for student life and the Pi Kappa Alpha residential director at Georgetown College. He was also a residence hall director at the University of Kentucky. For five summers, Noltemeyer has worked with the Governor's Scholars Program as a resident assistant, head resident assistant and director of scholars.

While at Centre, Noltemeyer was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and served as Intrafraternal Council President.

"We're excited to have Patrick join our student life office team," Hays said. "His knowledge and support of the Greek system—especially as a Centre alumnus—will be invaluable for our students. As a former resident assistant of mine, I'm well acquainted with Patrick's work ethic and dedication."
