Centre names new baseball coach

RELEASED: July 23, 2004

DANVILLE, KY—— Mike Pritchard, assistant baseball coach and assistant sports information director at Hanover College, has been named head baseball coach and sports information director at Centre College.

Pritchard is a former captain of the University of Dayton baseball team and after graduation served as an assistant coach for two years. He also coached the Dayton Classics, a youth baseball team.

As the assistant coach at Hanover, under coach Dick Naylor, Pritchard was the pitching coach and handled the third base coaching duties. His sports information assignment included producing media guides and press releases, as well as being the primary contact person for 15 of the 16 sports offered at Hanover. His sports information background dates back to the University of Dayton, where he assisted the sports information director with daily operations of the school's 16 Division I sports programs.

"I'm looking forward to working with Mike as he assumes his duties as head baseball coach and sports information director," says Brian Chafin, director of athletics and recreation. "We received an unusually high number of applications for this position—around 85, and Mike emerged as the leading candidate."
