Student sampling says … Ben Folds rocks!

RELEASED: May 13, 2004

DANVILLE, KY—Ben Folds performed live for an enthusiastic audience at Centre College's Norton Center for the Arts last week. The much-anticipated performance was everything expected and more, according to several Centre students. Here's what a few of them had to say:

"Ben really connected with the audience by taking song requests, making jokes, and improvising off the screams of the crowd. I was most impressed with his piano skills. I was fortunate enough to have a seat where I could see the quick, yet subtle movements of his hands." — Jason Woodall, freshman, intended major: 3-2 engineering

"I thought the show was awesome! I was in the third row and felt like I was right up there. He jumped up on top of the piano at one point and used the crowd to sing parts of his songs, which was fun for us because we felt more a part of it. We went backstage and met him after the show and he was just as cool as he was on stage. He very graciously signed autographs and posed for pictures." — Anna Cable, freshman, undeclared major

"He's a good performer and piano player. He's funny. I really liked the band before him too, Cliff Wright [a Centre student and musician] and Moonlight Drive." — Lindsey Luttrell, senior, double major in Spanish and international studies

"I thought the Ben Folds show was absolutely amazing. I've been a huge fan of Ben for a long time, but never have been able to see him perform live. He was an incredible pianist, singer and showman. I also thought Cliff Wright played very well as the opener." — Kevin Duke, freshman, undeclared major
"Folds even played 'Tiny Dancer' by Elton John, and requested a pair of large sunglasses to fit the role. I, of course, promptly loaned him mine. It was a great show, and I hope we can continue to bring in bands that we students are excited about." — Will Adams, sophomore, religion major
