| The College Centre taking shape
RELEASED: March 18, 2004
The College Centre is a $22-million expansion and renovation of Sutcliffe Hall and Crounse Academic Center. It will create a state-of-the-art academic and recreation/athletic complex. The grand opening for the facility is slated for the spring of 2005. At Crounse, framing of the walls and the roofing will be underway shortly. This summer the library will offer limited service while books are moved and interior remodeling takes place. Concrete has been poured for the flooring at Sutcliffe, and steel framing should arrive soon. Highlights of the upgrade to Crounse include an expanded Grace Doherty Library with additional space for 60,000 volumes, more computer capabilities and classroom technology, and additional office and classroom space. Highlights of Sutcliffe include renovated gymnasiums, new strength and free weight areas in the Buck Power/Fitness Centre, glass racquetball courts, a new three-lane running track and a new aerobics room. Since most students live on campus, Centre is more than just a place where students attend class. They spend the majority of their time working, studying, playing and socializing on the 115-acre campus. The College Centre will add exciting new dimensions to the educational and recreational experience of the college's students.
