Major progress made on The College Centre

RELEASED: Sept. 16, 2004

DANVILLE, KY—Completion of The College Centre is in the stretch run.

The project that will create a state-of-the-art academic and recreation/athletic complex has made dramatic progress during the summer. The College Centre is the $22-million expansion and renovation of the Crounse Academic Center and Sutcliffe Athletic Center.

All the exterior decorative stone work has been completed on Crounse. In addition, most of the drywall is installed on all floors; first floor bathrooms are complete and in service; the first floor fire alarm system and sprinklers are installed and operable; and the air conditioning system is operable.

In Sutcliffe, Bowman Gym is complete and approved for use. The outdoor jump pit, pole vault runway, and running track is complete; new roofing is finished and re-roofing of the existing facility is nearly complete; and air conditioning for the performance and auxiliary gyms is operational.

Since most students live on campus, Centre is more than just a place where students attend class. They spend the majority of their time working, studying, playing and socializing on the 115-acre campus. The College Centre will add exciting new dimensions to the educational and recreational experience of the college’s students. And it’s moving closer to completion with each passing week. The completion is slated for spring of 2005.
