| Author of popular book wants to know how Centre has changed students' lives RELEASED: April 15, 2004
Pope is revising the book and is interested in receiving input from current Centre students and recent alumni (graduates from 1990 and after). If you have an anecdote or comment about how Centre has changed your life (through study abroad, academic challenges and achievements, campus activities, relationships with faculty and students, new interests developed, etc.), Pope is interested in hearing from you. Students and young alumni can send their responses, which will be anonymous to Centre, by visiting http://www.ctcl.com/new_book/alumni_and_student_survey.html. Centre's Communications Office also wants to hear how Centre has changed the lives of its students and alumni. If you have a story to tell, contact Diane Johnson, Centrepiece editor, at johnsond@centre.edu.
These comments will prove useful to the College in telling the Centre story to prospective students and their parents. Schools were selected for Colleges That Change Lives based on a proven ability to develop students' potential, values, initiative and risk-taking skills. The 40 schools were selected, Pope says, because "they outdo the Ivies and research universities in producing winners."
Pope says that Centre seniors can be confident they'll get into the best graduate and professional schools and get jobs. "No university faculty compares with Centre's in the impact it has on the growth of young minds and personalities. Its faculty is earnestly committed to and excels at the art of teaching." Centre is the most affordable of the U.S. News and World Report top 50, and Pope agrees Centre is a top value. He calls the College, "a bargain, costing several thousand dollars less than quality colleges in the North."
